When do discoveries become miracles?

Cheminformatics - Multiple Openings


This role works as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to the discovery of new drug candidates. Major responsibilities include (but are not limited to): development and implementation of cheminformatics strategies that meet current and future project team work flow, data analysis, visualization, and knowledge management needs; maintenance of internal and external awareness of state-of-the-art cheminformatic and knowledge management tools and technological advances and development of creative cheminformatic & knowledge management strategies that address project team and site-wide data/knowledge needs; participation in project team decision-making, collaboration with team members to identify key project and medicinal chemistry issues, utilize data visualization and analysis tools to identify SAR trends and contribute to the design of compounds that address these issues; and possession of expert knowledge needed for, but not limited to, data collection (Structured Query Language [SQL] queries), and Pipeline Pilot programming.


A Ph.D. or equivalent experience with 3-5 years of strong scientific accomplishment in data aggregation and analysis, data visualization, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, or discipline integral to discovery project teams is required. Candidates must have an understanding of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, drug metabolism and toxicology related issues. Knowledge and experience with a variety of computing applications including Pipeline Pilot, Spotfire, SQL Navigator or TOAD, and FileMaker Pro; experience utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL) for retrieving data from relational database management systems. Knowledge and experience with enterprise2.0 applications associated with wikis, blogs, and mash-up environments desired.
