Subject: 08.02.01 Postdoc in Computational Catalysis and Molecular Simulation, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa
A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. The position is available for 12 months, starting in May 2008. The position, which is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), will be focused on modeling the structure and catalytic properties of metal nanoparticles on various carbon supports, with applications in the areas of fuel cell catalysis, sensors, and adsorption technology. Excellent computational facilities are available for this project, including a large university cluster and access to several major supercomputer sites. Also, the project benefits from close experimental collaborations at UA. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular modeling, statistical mechanics, and experience with electronic structure calculations (such as DFT). Experience with Fortran programming would be beneficial, as well as experience with Gaussian and VASP. Interested applicants should contact Prof. C.
