To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Tue Apr 15 11:04:29 2008 Subject: 08.04.15 Molecular Simulation/Computational Research Chair, Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada Position Description The Chair will conduct biorefining research, such as enzyme and molecular probe design as well as proteomics as applied to biorefining, and should have ample experience in bioinformatics and/or computational chemistry/biology. The Research Chair will have the opportunity to interact with other scientists at the Molecular Medicine Research Centre (MMRC) in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The candidates expertise and approach will advance cellular and molecular research for the conversion of biomass to energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other high value products utilizing Lakehead Universitys and MMRCs high performance computer modeling and imaging facilities. The Research Chair will complement Lakehead Universitys Biorefining Research Initiative (BRI). The goal of the BRI is to create a world-class centre of excellence dedicated to developing transformative technologies and products from forest biomass. This Chair is funded by the Shared Hierarchical Academic Research Computing Network (SHARCNET) and the Molecular Medicing Reseach Centre (MMRC). Qualifications Prospective candidates should have a PhD in chemistry, biology, informatics or other related discipline(s) and be scholars who have achieved or have the potential to achieve national and international recognition in their field with a demonstrated track record of research success. The successful candidate will be given a tenure-track appointment with reduced teaching responsibility, a startup package, and a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
