POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN COMPUTER AIDED DRUG DISCOVERY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CENTER FOR DRUG DESIGN Job Responsibilities The Center for Drug Design is dedicated to designing and developing new medicines to benefit people worldwide. Research projects will include but are not limited to the development and application of computational methods for the identification and optimization of lead compounds for protein targets implicated in a wide variety of human diseases. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, biochemists, and virologists here at the Center. Qualifications/Skills The applicant must have a Ph.D. in computational chemistry, biology, or physics, or a closely related discipline. The candidate must have strong research experience in at least four of the following areas: Quantum mechanics Statistical mechanics Molecular dynamics simulation Solvation models Protein-ligand binding Protein structure prediction The candidate must possess good programming skills in Fortran and/or C++, excellent scripting skills, supercomputing experience, and proficiency in UNIX/Linux OS. The position will require excellent scientific communication skills. Previous experience in commercially available modeling and simulation software packages are preferred. The appointment is available for one year, renewable upon mutual agreement. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
