Codexis is a leading developer of proprietary biocatalysts that the company believes have the potential to revolutionize chemistry-based manufacturing processes across a variety of industries. The company has used its technology platform to enable biocatalyst-based commercial-scale drug manufacturing processes and delivered biocatalysts and drug products to some of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. Codexis has a funded collaboration in the biofuels market, and the company is pursuing funded collaborations in several other bioindustrial markets, including carbon management, water treatment and chemicals.

We are seeking a Scientist trained in statistical analysis of high throughput data sets to develop data analysis pipelines to identify targets for cellular and metabolic engineering of biofuel producing organisms. The candidate should have an understanding of directed evolution and pathway engineering; a proven record analyzing metabolic pathways in silico and outstanding knowledge of microbial metabolism. 

Qualifications

  • Possessing strong statistical and analytical skills to interpret transcriptomics and metabolomics data
  • Skilled in the techniques of Flux balance analysis, metabolic control analysis, and the development of novel metabolic pathways Experienced in building and analyzing metabolic models, especially genome-scale models as well as microbial genome diversity mining
  • Able to work with analytical chemists and LIMS specialists to keep metabolic models updated with current microarray and metabolomics data
  • Energetic, highly self-motivated, and able to work efficiently and productively in a start-up department
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets with a high degree of statistical confidence
  • Able to work independently and flexibly on a variety of projects- with good multitasking and organizational skills
  • Able to discover novel targets for metabolic engineering experiments based on computational modeling and expert knowledge

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology with 2 -- 5 years industry experience.  
  • Strong organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Team-oriented and able to interact effectively and influence peers and all levels of management.
