DuPont is currently seeking a postdoctoral fellow for our Information
and Computing Technology office located in Wilmington, DE. The primary
responsibility of the Computational Chemistry Postdoc is to use,
develop, and extend computational chemistry technology to enhance
research productivity within DuPont. This position involves building and
managing research collaborative consulting relationships with internal
and external research communities. Overall, these collaborations will
extend the computational chemistry capabilities for solving a wide range
of non-classical research and business focused problems.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and driven
individual who will easily interact with both experimental and
computational research scientists. The primary responsibility is to
discover and implement novel computational methods, analyses, and
procedures, which ultimately accelerate DuPont's scientific research
productivity. This person will work with the computational chemistry
team to define and extend current initiatives and to integrate new
technologies into the offering. General research areas of interest
include (but are not limited to) electronic materials (inorganic &
organic), biomaterials, polymeric materials, and environmental chemistry.
- PhD in Chemistry or related field
- Thorough understanding and practical expertise in the use of quantum
chemistry and/or molecular simulation (MD, MC) methods such as those
found in the following software packages: Gaussian, Materials Studio,
Discovery Studio, Schrdinger, Gromacs, Gromos, and NAMD
- A proven track record in publishing which reflects the candidate's
knowledge in applying modeling methodologies
- Knowledgeable in applying modeling methodologies to understand and
predict interfacial properties or nanoscale phenomena would be a plus
- Practical knowledge in installing open source modeling software and
applying such software would be a plus
- Working knowledge with modern computer operating systems (Unix/Linux)
and with programming languages (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Python, C, or
Fortran), especially in facilitating routine tasks
- Experience working in research teams toward common goals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both oral and written)
skills
- Strong desire to publish and do computational research
