From: jobs at ccl.net (do not send your application there!!!) To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Fri Nov 20 08:06:03 2009 Subject: 09.11.20 Postdoc and PhD positions in Computational Biophysics, University Erlangen, Germany Postdoc Position and PhD Position in Computational Biophysics / Computational Biology Biology Department, University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany PhD and Postdoc positions are offered by the Computational Biology Group at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Work of the group is focused on the prediction of structure, function and (nano)dynamics of membranes and proteins. Projects involves the study of protein-lipid interactions on the atomic scale, using the method of molecular dynamics simulations. Of specific interest are the action of anesthetics, pore formation in membranes by external electric fields (e.g. 'electroporation'), and phase transitions in biological membranes and their role in the function of membrane proteins. Addressed questions cover for example: How do peptides and proteins interact with the membrane? Can we predict fusion, budding, fission properties? How is transport along and through membranes achieved? Candidates for the Postdoc position must hold a doctoral degree in physics or in chemistry and should have a strong background in membrane biophysics. PhD applicants should have successfully completed their Masters or Diploma degree in physics or theoretical (bio)chemistry, be strongly motivated and team-oriented. Experience in 'Molecular Modeling' or structural biology is of advantage. PhD fellowships are limited to three years. The Postdoc position may be extended for up to five years. Interested candidates should send their application letter including a CV (with the names of one or two people who would be willing to send a letter of recommendation) by email (preferably one pdf file) to: Prof. Dr. Rainer Boeckmann Computational Biology University Erlangen-Nuremberg Erwin-Rommel-Str. 3 D-91058 Erlangen, Germany email: rboeckma[-]biologie.uni-erlangen.de web: www.bioinf.uni-sb.de/RBNOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!! All @ signs were changed to [-] to fight spam. Before you send e-mail, you need to change [-] to @ For example: change joe[-]big123comp.com to joe@big123comp.com Please let your prospective employer know that you learned about the job from the Computational Chemistry List Job Listing at http://www.ccl.net/jobs. If you are not interested in this particular position yourself, pass it to someone who might be -- some day they may return the favor. |
