Job Responsibilities/Department Description:
As a key member of Genzymes Science Computing organization, you will be
tasked to design and implement informatics systems that will accelerate
R&D data capture, improve R&D decision support, and enhance
end-users ability to access and use data from high-throughput drug
discovery. Working in close collaboration with laboratory scientists, the
candidate will leverage a broad array of cheminformatics and data analysis
tools to create new systems for mining and visualization of drug discovery
data.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with 5 years experience working in a science role plus 5
years experience in an informatics role, all in a life science
research-oriented environment. 3+ years of experience working with and
programming to Oracle databases. 3+ years of client/server software
development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
Experience with administration and development of small molecule drug
discovery database systems (Symyx, Accord) is highly desirable. Experience
with other informatics tools such as Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot and experience
in database design and software systems architecture and bioinformatics and
cheminformatics tools for data integration, mining, and visualization is
desirable. A solid understanding of the drug discovery process and some
practical chemistry knowledge is preferred.
