Postdoc (f/m) with a PhD degree in Theoretical Chemistry
The department "Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy" of the Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Muelheim an der Ruhr is presently looking for candidates for a Postdoc (f/m) with a PhD degree in Theoretical Chemistry.
The postdoctoral position is available in a group of Professor Dr. Frank Neese in molecular theory and spectroscopy.
The vacant position is to be filled as soon as possible, however the starting date is flexible. The position is initially for 12 months. A prolongation is possible.
Job Description: The MPI CEC is presently looking for a candidate with a strong background in theoretical chemistry and method development. The main research topic will be the development of efficient nuclear gradients for correlated wavefunction methods. The project is challenging and requires a solid background in mathematics, quantum chemistry and computer programming. Prior experience with multiconfigurational methods is desirable. Due the complexity of the involved equations, the candidate will develop the methodology using automatic formula and codegeneration tools developed in our own group.
Qualifications: PhD degree in theoretical chemistry. A solid background in python(3) and C++ is desirable. Experience with CASSCF, Multireference Perturbation Theory and related applications is of advantage.
Application: The Max-Planck-Society explicitly encourages women to apply. Furthermore the Max-Planck-Society wishes to increase the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
