Duties & Responsibilities: As member of an interdisciplinary team of biologists, medicinal chemists, crystallographers, biophysicists, and drug discovery support scientists contribute to the advancement of drug discovery projects by providing state of the art computer-aided drug design input. Participate in technology initiatives, and be directly engaged in the development of tools that improve computational chemistry approaches and workflows for structure-based and ligand-based drug design and cheminformatic analyses. Participate in the evaluation of CADD software. Maintain all appropriate notebook records of all studies and satisfy all normal lab SOP requirements. Report to the CADD Supervisor. Requirements: Ph.D. in computational chemistry; exceptional candidates from related fields such as theoretical physics, computational biology, and computer sciences with relevant chemistry expertise maybe considered also. Two years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a postdoc or molecular modeler is a plus; good working knowledge of organic chemistry is a plus. Relevant areas of proven expertise should include at least one of the following: predictive modeling; computation of protein-ligand binding free energies; virtual screening; pharmacophore elucidation; protein-ligand docking and scoring; chemoinformatics; Monte-Carlo simulations; molecular dynamics; statistical mechanics applied to biological systems. The candidate will be expected to have an outstanding scientific record in their area of interest and a strong working knowledge in several of the other fields. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an expertise in scientific programming (e.g., Python, Java, C, SVL) and be able to document the practical application of these skills. Strong graduate performance and publication record. Excellent oral and written communication skills and good presentation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented team environment.
