Subject: 16.09.22 Senior Scientist, Quantum Mechanics, NYC

Schrödinger, a technology leader specializing in software solutions for life science and materials science research and development, is seeking a quantum chemist with strong knowledge of computational chemistry software development. The job will focus on improving and expanding our software solutions for a computational treatment of small and medium-sized molecular systems. A significant portion of the job responsibilities will be programming in the computer languages Fortran, C, and Python. As the density functional theory (DFT) plays a dominant role in modern quantum chemical modeling, much of the activity in the job will revolve around algorithms employed in solving Kohn-Sham equations and performing searches on DFT potential energy surfaces. Therefore, experience with the fundamental algorithms for numerical solution of quantum chemical and related equations will be necessary for carrying out the job duties.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong programming skills in Fortran, C, and Python
  • Experience in quantum chemical software development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Superior work ethic and discipline
  • Superior mathematical skills
  • Experience with molecular systems containing transition metal atoms
