Structural Scientist, Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, UK

Job Title: Structural Scientist
Group: Material Sciences Group
Salary Band: TBC
Reports to: Head of Material's Science

The CCDC is a non-profit research institute, dedicated to the advancement and promotion of the science of chemistry and crystallography for the public benefit. To fulfil this aim we have created a vibrant CCDC Materials Science team that works closely with a number of industrial partners, addressing formulation and solid form challenges through Solid State Structural Informatics and computational modelling methods. The successful applicant will join the team in Cambridge, engaged in R&D and working closely with our industrial partners.

Applicants will be expected to have knowledge of the Cambridge Structural Database and associated software and a strong understanding of structural chemistry. A PhD level scientist with experience of crystallography and crystal engineering will be particularly advantageous. In addition to the application of the structural informatics, the candidate will be expected to write scripts in python to advance and deliver the science. A collaborative role such as this will require good presentation skills, both written and oral, as well as a proven ability to deliver a programme of work on time.
