Subject: 17.10.25 Two Positions in Computational Chemistry, CUNY, York College Campus
Applications are invited for 1 of 2 positions in theoretical and computational chemistry
in the group of Y. A. Small, Dept. of Chemistry at the York College Campus of
The City University of New York (CUNY).

A PhD position or Research Technician III position is available, depending on the
experience and background of the candidate.

The PhD appointment is at The Graduate Center of CUNY in Biochemistry or Chemistry,
see https://www.gc.cuny.edu/About-the-GC/Provost-s-Office/The-Sciences
Candidates should have a degree in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields.
The main theme of our research is to develop and apply state-of-the-art computational
tools to characterize and understand the structure and dynamics of molecular systems in
the condensed phase through direct contact with experiments. In particular we use and
implement methods to accurately represent intermolecular interactions and use them in
classical molecular dynamics and quantum dynamics simulations, depending on the
system of interest.

The Research Technician III position (postdoc) is at York College CUNY in the Dept. of
Chemistry, see https://www.york.cuny.edu/academics/departments/chemistry

data management, backup and archiving research data, running MD and QM codes,
writing custom data analysis scripts/codes for visualization of output data. The technician
is responsible for ordering necessary supplies. Maintains and operates laboratory
equipment. Collects, verifies, records and compiles data; performs calculations and
prepares graph and reports. Maintains records of lab procedures and results. Performs
other related duties as assigned. Assists scientists, students, and other technicians in
the performance of laboratory and investigative research procedures. Collaborates with
lab members on different projects; contributes to the organization of the lab by providing
support for various aspects of research.
Experience with multiple platforms (i.e. Linux/UNIX and Windows), hardware and
cluster maintenance, software for scientific computing, data analysis and visualization
with an interest in computational research, programming, hardware and software
maintenance.
