Subject: 17.12.06 One Postdoc Position in Quantum Chemistry, The University of Hong Kong
Applications are invited for one postdoctoral position in the Quantum Chemistry Group 
(http://www.junyanglab.com) with Prof. Jun Yang at the University of Hong Kong, to 
commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in quantum chemistry, theoretical chemistry, 
or broadly defined computational science related disciplines. Other qualifications are:
(1) a strong publication record of quantum chemistry, theoretical or computational 
chemistry.
(2) significant experience with electronic structure computation and methodology 
development is preferred.
(3) scientific programming experience with Python, C/C++, and/or Fortran is desirable.
(4) excellent oral and written communication skills.
(5) ability to work independently.

The postdoc appointee will be responsible for developing high-fidelity unconventional 
quantum chemistry methods capable of computing electronic  excited states of 
condensed system including molecular crystal, and/or modelling complex electronic 
structures of organic singlet fission molecules and crystals beyond DFT with emphasis on 
multi-reference, quantum embedding and fragment-based approaches for excited states,
and/or performing computational studies into fundamental photochemistry and 
photophysics of light-emitting materials. Other duties include mentoring junior group 
members, preparing manuscripts for publications, and presenting scientific work 
at conferences. 

A globally competitive salary (note that salaries tax in Hong Hong does not exceed 15% 
of gross income) commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in 
addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
