As a major element of Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (Roche pRED), the Therapeutic Modalities (TMo) function is responsible for creating innovative drug candidates for all Roche pRED Discovery and Translational areas (DTAs), spanning small molecules, biologics and nucleic acid-based therapeutics. As part of TMo, the Chemical Biology (CB) department focuses on the success of Roche's preclinical pipeline by delivering leading edge science through strong expertise in high-throughput, DNA-encoded and phenotypic cell-based screening platforms, translational protein science, enzymology, biophysics, stem-cell platforms, structural biology, and computer-aided drug discovery (CADD).

As a Cheminformatics Scientist in the Computer-Aided Drug Design Section, you will:

  • Design, develop and prototype novel tools for the analyses and visualization of data for knowledge based decision-making
  • Research on advanced informatics algorithms, approaches, and tools to accelerate and enhance hit finding and drug discovery efforts
  • Provide workflow solutions to support CADD activities in drug discovery projects
  • Establish and implement workflows to improve and speed up drug discovery activities
  • Contribute to the overall CADD strategy and play an active part in its implementation
  • Maintain an internal and external scientific presence by authoring significant scientific presentations and publications

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who possesses excellent communication skills, loves working in multidisciplinary teams and is fluent in English. Additionally, you have completed your Ph.D. in computer science, computational chemistry, computational biology, statistics or related fields and you bring the following set of skills and expertise:

  • At least 3 years of experience providing software solutions in a scientific research environment
  • Demonstrated experience in chemical informatics, algorithms, data analysis and software
  • Excellent command of one or several programming languages (Python, C, C++, Java, ...) and of workflow applications (Pipeline Pilot, Knime, ...)
  • Working knowledge of designing, maintaining and using databases
  • A track record of scientific contributions illustrated by publications and/or patents
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
