Principal Bioinformatician Starting salary from: 30,100-49,100 per annum (dependent upon experience) Job Ref: MI/18/15 Duration: Fixed term until 31 March 2019 (in the first instance) About the role: As part of the expansion of the CRUK Manchester Institute Drug Discovery Unit (http://www.cruk.manchester.ac.uk/Our-Research/Drug-Discovery), we are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive expert in Drug Discovery Bioinformatics, to help drive our programmes from early target identification through to candidate selection and clinical evaluation. An expert in the use of complex biological datasets to influence decision making, you will play a significant role in the identification and prioritisation of new drug discovery targets. You will also have significant influence in defining our biomarker strategy for patient stratification and for validating in vivo markers of therapeutic response. Alongside these project roles, you will influence and develop our group capabilities and collaborations in bioinformatics and seek innovative ways of interacting with our project teams to maximise the use of complex biological datasets in the delivery of human drug candidates. You will also provide support and direction for the on-going support and future enrichment of our Dotmatics informatics platform across all drug discovery disciplines. About you: You should have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology or Bioinformatics (or related field) or a relevant postgraduate degree in these disciplines plus substantial relevant experience in analysing high-throughput genomics data sets. In addition you will have significant demonstrable experience analysing biological datasets including next generation sequencing (NGS) and other genomic data.
