Subject: 19.10.24 Postdoctoral Position in Computational Chemistry in Kalamazoo, Michigan
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will apply 
computational methods to the study of solvent effect on small molecules 
and chemical reaction mechanisms. The position is located at the 
Department of Chemistry, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This project is funded by a large company, so the person will have ample 
opportunities to interact with both industry and academics people. The 
computational methods will involve both conventional quantum mechanical 
(such as density functional theory) and combined QM/MM methods.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Work with the people in both industry and academics seeking to advance 
the scientific understanding of structural and energetic aspects of 
chemical reactions in solutions;
Perform molecular dynamics simulations to elucidate the conformational 
and energetic evolutions of species in the simulated systems;
Present and report research results in a timely manner;
Maintain strong self-motivation to conduct relevant research independently.

Basic Qualifications:

A Ph. D. in theoretical or computational chemistry or related physical 
chemistry field within the last five years;
Experience with QM computations (with Gaussian or Gamess for example) 
and QM/MM molecular dynamics simulations (with AMBER or GROMOS for

The preferable starting date is the January of 2020.
