THE POSITION
Take advantage of your expertise and push the scientific boundaries of peptide modeling. Develop new ways how to analyze data in peptide projects and to design peptide therapeutics.
As new colleague you expand your knowledge in commercial and academic software packages, but also translate your ideas into code. Grasp the opportunity to work in a stimulating and aspiring industrial environment.
Within Discovery Research Germany in Biberach, you are part of a highly innovative Computational Chemistry Group, contributing to shape the way how new medicines will be discovered in the future.
This position is initially limited to 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role you extend small molecule ligand-based and cheminformatics methodologies to oligo- and polypeptides.
  • You perform molecular dynamics simulations on peptides, analyze protein-peptide interactions and predict binding affinities.
  • In addition you are responsible for the development of new descriptors for complex peptidic compounds.
  • The application and adaptation of machine learning and AI methods and the development of new tools for the analysis of structure-activity relationships for peptides is also part of your new role.
  • You also present your results at scientific conferences and publish your work in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, physics, computer science or a related field, alternatively a completed Masters program with several years of professional expertise
  • Good programming skills, preferably python, and familiarity with Unix/Linux and HPC environments
  • Experience either with molecular dynamics simulations or with
  • cheminformatics concepts and toolkits, e.g. pandas, RDKit, scikit-learn
  • Curious and self-driven mindset, paired with a collaborative attitude and an eagerness to learn
