Oulu in Finland, and Sodertalje in Sweden). We provide a range of services to support small-molecule drug discovery and development projects for biopharmaceutical companies worldwide. We have medicinal chemistry teams in both our 
Nijmegen and Groningen locations (previously called Mercachem and Syncom), currently totaling about 80 scientists. To grow the computational team in Nijmegen, we are currently looking for a skilled and enthusiastic

Computational Chemist
Drug Discovery Full time

In this position, you will be involved in drug discovery projects on different target classes and disease areas supporting both the Nijmegen and Groningen teams. You will apply computational methods, including structure-based 
drug design, homology modeling, QSAR, ligand/receptor docking, ligand-based design, scaffold hopping and diversity/similarity analysis, in the design of libraries or single compounds. Furthermore, you will interpret and use 
structural data, biological assay data, physicochemical data, pharmacological data etc in the design of biological active molecules. Your key interactions are with medicinal chemists on the customer side, and with 
medicinal/synthetic chemists internally. 

For this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic, pleasant person who meets the following criteria:

Required experience
 	PhD in computational chemistry or related discipline
 	Hands-on experience with ligand- and/or structure-based design
 	Profound knowledge of computational and medicinal chemistry concepts
 	Basic knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry

Desired experience
 	Post-doctoral work as a computational chemist in drug discovery, preferably in an industrial environment
 	The ability to program, e.g. in Python and/or experience with KNIME
 	Designing and handling (large) molecular libraries
 	Knowledge of statistical methods
 	Progressing compounds from hit through lead to clinical candidate
