Biologics Software Engineer at Schrödinger, New York

Schrödinger seeks a Biologics Software Engineer to aid us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!

As a member of our Life Sciences Software team, you'll work with cutting-edge, physics-based technologies in drug discovery. Your background in computational chemistry and biophysics, biomolecular simulations, and/or protein science will make you a key contributor in our efforts to revolutionize the way protein-based therapeutics are discovered.

Who will love this job:

  • An experienced Python programmer who's worked in UNIX/Linux environments
  • An experienced modeler of biomolecules
  • A skilled computational biophysicist with relevant knowledge or interest in learning protein science, thermodynamics, and the modeling of biomolecular interactions using physics-based methods
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator who understands computational structural biology

What you'll do:

  • Design software that is robust, adaptable and easy to maintain
  • Write clear, highly-organized, maintainable Python code
  • Adopt good software engineering practices and methodologies
  • Work with engineers and scientists to develop novel methods to accurately model proteins and their structural conformations
  • Facilitate breakthroughs in computer-aided drug discovery by delivering novel methods with unprecedented levels of accuracy
  • Develop an in silico protein design platform

What you should have:

  • Experience in developing Python software
  • Familiarity with writing unit tests and test-driven development
  • Relevant experience in nucleotide, carbohydrate or protein modeling, computational chemistry/biophysics, structural biology, and/or protein science
  • Advanced degree in computational chemistry, biophysics, molecular modeling, or a related field
