Subject: 23.03.03 PhD positions in AI for Chemistry and Drug Discovery at uOttawa starting in Winter 2024
Several positions for grad students are available in our lab
(https://gentilelab.uottawa.ca) at the University of Ottawa.
The Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences at the
University of Ottawa is one of the top five in Canada and we
provide competitive salaries and opportunities to grow as
scientist. We are located in beautiful Ottawa, Canada's capital,
which is consistently ranked as one of the most livable cities in
the world.

Potential projects revolve around developing advanced
AI methods for structure-based drug discovery, and applying those
for the discovery of new antibacterial and anticancer drug
candidates. The successful candidates will work closely with our
experimental collaborators at uOttawa and abroad to accelerate
the development of preclinical candidates through cycles of
in-silico predictions and experimental validation. There will
be opportunities to spend a research period in collaborating
institutions abroad during the programs. For international
candidates, priority will be given to students interested in
pursuing a Ph.D., however exceptional candidates will be
considered for the M.Sc. program. The ideal candidates will
have a solid background in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics
or related disciplines and good knowledge of Python programming.
Although not necessary, machine learning experience will be
considered as a bonus. If you see yourself as a motivated young
researcher who wants to contribute to a better world with
computer-aided drug discovery, contact us at fgentileATuottawa.ca
for more information.

In our group, we are deeply committed to build an equal opportunity
environment without regard to age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship,
ethnic origin, place of origin, creed, disability, family status,
marital status (including single status), gender identity, gender
expression, record of offences, sex (including pregnancy and breastfeeding),
or sexual orientation. We particularly encourage applications from four
designated groups that have traditionally been disadvantaged in
employment: women, visible minorities, indigenous peoples and
persons with disabilities.
Please send your CV, transcripts, a cover letter explaining your interest
