Summary of position
We are seeking a senior computational chemistry researcher to assist
in developing new scientific techniques and turning these into
industry-leading easy-to-use software products. The role will range
from basic research at the cutting edge of computational chemistry
to assisting our customers with tricky problems in ongoing molecule
discovery programs.

Responsibilities
- Researching new computational chemistry techniques and validating
them (current emphases are on ligand-based virtual screening, ligand
similarity, free energy methods and accelerated dynamics methods)
- Working with academic collaborators to validate and benchmark
software from academia
- Co-supervising PhD students with academic collaborators
- Working independently on scientific research projects and
producing white papers and scientific publications based on these
- Presenting your research worldwide to Cresset customers and at
scientific conferences.
- Providing second-tier support for the Discovery Services group
within Cresset and for Cresset customers in solving difficult
modelling problems
Requirements
- PhD-level scientist with a background in computational chemistry
and/or molecular modelling, ideally in the field of drug discovery
or similar industry.
- Experience in scientific programming with Python, C, or C++.
- Track record of methods research, including publications in top
journals
- Strong passion to help develop the tools which will enable the
design of drugs of the future by advancing our understanding of
molecular interactions
Desirable
- Experience in a pharma or biotech drug discovery environment would
be strongly advantageous
- Experience with free energy methods would be an advantage
Location and Hours
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Our office is based in Litlington, Cambridgeshire, UK
- We offer hybrid working
- Ideally we would like someone to work from the office at least one
day a week, with the opportunity to work from the office or from
home for the remaining days
- We will also consider fully remote working for candidates who are
not based within commutable distance to the office
