A postdoc position is available in the Daniel Ess
computational and simulation lab at Brigham Young University (BYU) 
(https://esslab.byu.edu/).
Applications will be accepted now through May 31. 
The start date can be between July 2023 to Jan. 2024.

Projects will be in organic and organometallic reactions and catalysis and will range from 
fundamental studies to collaboration with petrochemical industrial partners to design new
catalysts. You will use electronic structure calculations, machine learning, and programming.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computational or theoretical chemistry or a related field.

Applicants must be independent, be able to handle multiple projects, and be expert in 
electronic structure computational packages and theoretical analysis. Applicants should 
have reasonable programming skills (e.g. Python). Applicants will be expected to become 
expert in using machine learning methods. 

BYU has a very friendly campus environment in Provo, which is the second largest city in Utah.
Provo, Utah is an extremely safe city.
