Subject: 23.04.21 PhD position at TU Dresden: Electronic excitations in next-generation quantum materials
The PhD position is available in the group of Dr. Dorothea Golze
(https://golzegroup.org/) at Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden),
Germany, starting as soon as possible.

In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact on the
exploration of new planar carbon lattices (PCLs) for next-generation
quantum materials by developing and applying advanced theoretical methods.
You will be part of the Research Training Group on Planar Carbon Lattices
(RTG2861-PCL). As member of the RTG, you will work in a highly
collaborative research environment, in particular with our partner
university (Universitt Erlangen-Nrnberg).

Your task will be to develop highly accurate computational tools for the
prediction of satellite features in XPS spectra of 2D framework materials.
Your development will be based on the GW approximation to Greens function
theory and you are expected to implement your method in the program package
FHI-aims (https://fhi-aims.org/). Applications of the method will be
performed in close collaboration with our experimental partners in the
RTG2861-PCL. More detailed information about the project can be found at
https://rtg2861-pcl.chm.tu-dresden.de/research/projects/c2-dorothea_golze/.

We welcome candidates with a university degree (MSc or equivalent) in
physics / chemistry / materials science, preferentially with theoretical
background. We are looking for a motivated candidate with strong interest
in electronic-structure theory, code development and its application to
material science. Basic programming skills are expected.
Please send your complete application preferably in one PDF document
(including your CV, Master/diploma certificate and transcript of grades,
cover letter explaining your motivation to apply for this position and
contact information of two references) by May 10th, 2023 via the TU Dresden
SecureMail Portal https://securemail.tu-dresden.de to
dorothea.golze,tu-dresden.de with the subject Application for open
PhD position/GW+C".
