The postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Doreen Mollenhauer ( https://www.uni-giessen.de/de/fbz/fb08/Inst/physchem/mollenhauer ) at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, starting as soon as possible.

In this position you will have the opportunity to contribute to the investigation of proton conductivity in solid-state electrolytes for efficient low-temperature electrochemical ammonia synthesis. You will work in a highly collaborative research environment with experimental and theoretical groups.

Your role will be to

• Perform quantum chemical calculations related to ammonia synthesis and solid synthesis and solid proton conductors
• Characterise and analyse the geometric and electronic electronic structures
• Study the reaction mechanisms taking into account different catalysts
• Investigation of the structure of proton conductors and description of ion transport
• Methods: density functional theory, semi-empirical methods, molecular dynamics molecular dynamics simulations, genetic genetic algorithms and machine learning

We welcome candidates with a university qualification (MSc or equivalent) in Physics / Chemistry / Materials Science with a theoretical background as well as a Doctoral degree in theoretical chemistry or material modelling.
