The PhD position is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Doreen Mollenhauer ( https://www.uni-giessen.de/de/fbz/fb08/Inst/physchem/mollenhauer ) at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, starting as soon as possible.

In this position you will have the opportunity to make an impact on the structural analysis of cluster materials important for the generation of brilliant white light.

You will be part of a research group with scientists from synthesis, optical physics, structure characterisation and theory. As a member of the research group, you will work in a highly collaborative research environment.

Your role will be to

• Perform quantum chemical calculations on cluster materials
• Calculation of single clusters, cluster aggregates and cluster materials as solids
• Analysis of extended structures
• Extension of the Python module ClusterMaster
• Molecular dynamics simulations of extended structures
• Analysis of cluster materials (correlations, descriptors)
• Methods: density functional theory, semi-empirical methods, molecular dynamics simulations, genetic methods
