1978 Martin's model of a wired society forecasted many aspects and impacts of the information highway as it is envisioned today.
1989 A hypertext project was developed to organize documents at CERN (Berners-Lee).
1994 The World Wide Web was designed to be a pool of human knowledge, which would allow collaborators in remote sites to share their ideas and all aspects of a common project (Berners-Lee).
1997 The Internet today is much more than an active and interactive encyclopaedia, because of the integration of human-to-human discourse (Gaines).
