    Dr. Clayton,
      We have had reports of this error with some recent updates of RedHat
 but we have not managed to generate such a machine in house.  What version
 of Linux do you have installed?
      Another site had a similar error due to a flawed installation of xfree86.
 You might try reinstalling this and make sure that your graphics card is
 recognized correctly.
