CCL:G: Severe error 2070 message, Gaussian 09

Hi,

When your link dies soon after submitting your job there should be a simple error in your input file. 2070 simply means an error, this is not a code for a particular error. The real error is written "and explained a bit" in your log/output file.
Check that file to see what is the real source of error. Without the log/output file and/or input file nobody can tell you what is the exact error.

Good luck,

Dear all,

I am new to the area of computational chemistry and am beginning to use Gaussian 09 in my studies of gas-phase ion chemistry in the mass spectrometer.  I am attempting to optimise the geometry of the ionic product of a gas-phase reaction, using Gaussview 5 as a GUI for Gaussian 09 and the default settings for the program.  When I submit the job, I obtain a message saying that the job can not run because of severe error 2070.

Can anybody explain what this error means (I have had a look online and can not find anything useful) and how to prevent it from happening?  Happy to share further information offline.

Best wishes,
Stephen Holman
