Before SciPortal could work, you had to have WebFlow middle tier services
running. We were starting WebFlow manually via Web with a password protected
Admin Page (it had a link up to a servlet which was startin the WebFlow).
Obviously we could start-up Webflow as a part of starting Tomcat through a
<servlet>...<load-on-startup>...
in
web.xml, but during the development
phase, manual was a convenient way. Moreover, we were dumping
debug information to an xterm which WebFlow was opening on our
local workstation in debug mode and you had to specify a host display
for the terminal on startup.
User could log in as (for example):
