Dear Chemometrician
The Chemometric Division of the Swedish Chemical Society is planning to organize a EUCHEM conference next year. Hence, it is our great pleasure to invite you to Lund and the EUCHEM conference CHAMPS - CHemometrics Applied to Metabonomics, Proteomics and SAR during September
12-15, 2004. Please pencil-in these dates in your calendar.
A short synopsis of the CHAMPS conference is found below. The first circular is due in January. For more information, please contact anna[#]chemsoc.se.
All the best

member of the CHAMPS organizing committee
Short outline of CHAMPS (CHemometrics applied to Metabonomics, Proteomics and SAR)
In research today a number of new informatics related disciplines are emerging, the so called "-omics" sciences. These "-omics" disciplines are often measurement intensive and results in large amounts of data. The CHAMPS conference aims at bringing "omics"-practitioners and chemometricians together in a lively and stimulating atmosphere where they can interact and exchange ideas and experiences.
Scope
The central theme of the symposium is Information from Heaps of Data. The Chemometric Division of the Swedish Chemical Society recognises the pressure on modern corporations and organizations to constantly improve quality and decrease costs. Hence, reliable information retreival from any systems data base is mandatory. Chemometric methods works with the users, flexibly and reliably, to hit the information core of any process or system in order to reveal its most hidden and vital information.
Scientific Program
The scientific program will include examples of successful implementations of multivariate technology by leading experts from academia and corporations. The speakers will be a stimulating mix of internationally renowned experts and experienced engineers and scientists from various fields.
In the spirit of the EUCHEM conferences, only a limited number of invited and contributed oral presentations will be included, allowing plenty of time for discussions and scientific interactions. Each participant is encouraged to submit contributions. To ensure an informal character of the meeting, the number of participants will be limited to about 70. Proceedings will be published.
Confirmed Invited Speakers
Prof Jan Kihlberg, AstraZeneca R&D, Mölndal, Sweden
Prof Giuseppe Musumarra, Università di Catania, Italy
Prof Jeremy Nicholson, Imperial College, London, United Kingdom
Prof Tudor Oprea, USA
Prof Jan van der Greef, TNO Systems Biology, The Netherlands
