1-year Student Position in Computational Chemistry ? 0300363

Job Description

Serono Pharmaceutical Research Institute (SPRI) 1-year student program
objective is to investigate a promising research area and pushes forward a
project with the aim of having the results published. 1 position is
available in Computational Chemistry at SPRI.

This one-year student position is aimed at applying cutting-edge in-silico
property prediction methods to properties relevant to drug discovery (oral
bio-availability, metabolism, toxicity, etc., usually referred as ADMET)
and integrating the resulting tools into Serono Pharmaceutical Research
Institute's discovery process.

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team under
the supervision of specialists in the field. He/she will perform literature
mining, method evaluation and/or development and software/database
integration. He/she will also have the opportunity to present (in English)
his/her work to other team members and institute scientists and to publish
his/her results.

The optimal candidate would possess basic knowledge in the areas of
chemistry and biology, as well as in data mining and analysis, and possibly
have some experience in programming and/or web-development.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop his/her
skills in the domain of in-silico property prediction, pharmacology,
chemistry and toxicology. He/she will also improve his/her knowledge of the
drug discovery process

Qualifications

Language and education

       ·University science degree (or in the process of finishing studies)
            in one of the following fields, with a strong background in at
            least one of the others: chemistry, biology, pharmacology,
            scientific computing.
       ·At least intermediate level in scientific English. Speaking French
       is not required.

Professional skills and experience:

       ·Computer fluent, experience in programming or web development is a
       plus.

       ·Experience in literature mining, data mining or in-silico modeling
       is a plus.

Personal qualifications:

       ·Ability to work in a team, potential to work independently
