405. FF (Flexible Formatting) Package
by Mark L. O. Olson, Digilab Inc., Cambridge,
Massachusetts 02139
The Flexible Formatting (FF) package consists of a
number of FORTRAN subroutines and functions designed to
facilitate the use of unformatted input in FORTRAN
programs. All FF package programs are written in
FORTRAN for the IBM 360, 370 and 303x computers.
The FF package can be divided into two groups of
routines. One set, with names beginning with the
letters FFMT, provides formatless input of numeric
data. The rest of the FF package, with names beginning
FFxx, are utility routines to aid in the manipulation
of character input and character data. The two sets of
routines will herein be referred to as the FFMT
routines and the FFxx routines respectively. FF
package refers to both sets.
