QCMP131. SCIBASE: A Scientific References Database System
by Camelia Munoz-Caro and Alfonso Nino, Departamento de
Informatica, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Ronda de
Calatrava s/n, 13071 Ciudad Real, Spain
SCIBASE is a system for the management of references of
chemical and physical interest. It has been developed for
use on the IBM PC and compatible machines running under DOS.
The program has been implemented in CLIPPER version 5.01 and
the data files are compatible with the different versions of
the Ashton-Tate dBASE program. The nucleus of the program
is a database designed in third normal form (information
independently stored) which uses the general structure for a
reference (title, authors, related topics, journal, volume,
pages and year). Available options permit you to: add new
references, modify, recover and delete stored references.
It is also possible to perform searches involving one or
more authors, topics, journals and a period of years. The
program is menu driven and the different options are self
explanatory.
